Vanishing Contribution to quark electric dipole moment in the 2HD model with CKM CP violation

چکیده
In the standard model ( SM ) of electroweak interactions, CP noninvariance arises from the nonzero phase in the CKM matrix. Its contribution to the quark electric dipole moment ( EDM ) vanishes surprisingly at two loop order. This makes the quark EDM extremely small in the SM. In this paper, we consider the two Higgs doublet extension of the SM and assume that CP noninvariance is still encoded in the CKM matrix. We calculate the charged Higgs boson contribution to the quark EDM which naively should be of order eGF δ̃(4π) mu(d)m 2 tm 2 bm −2 H for the up ( down ) quark with possible enhancement factors of tan β. Here δ̃ is the rephasing invariant of CP violation. However, contrary to the above naive expectation, we find that the charged Higgs boson contribution vanishes strictly at two loop order. We show explicitly how this comes about and explains how it is related to the general form of Yukawa couplings in a spontaneously broken gauge theory.

Enhanced contribution to quark and neutron electric dipole moments with small mixing of right-handed currents and CKM CP violation
We study the light quark and the neutron electric dipole moments (EDMs) under the assumptions that the CP source is still in the usual CKM matrix and that there is a small mixing of right-handed charged currents in the quark sector. We find that the EDMs arise already at two loop order that are much larger than the standard model (SM) result even for a small mixing.
متن کاملThe Electric Dipole Moment of the W and Electron in the Standard Model
I show that the electric dipole moment of the W-boson dW vanishes to two loop order in the standard Kobayashi-Maskawa Model of CP violation. The argument is a simple generalization of that used to show the vanishing of the quark electric dipole moment. As a consequence, the electron electric dipole moment vanishes to three loop order. Including QCD corrections may give a non-vanishing result; I...
متن کاملElectron Electric Dipole Moment induced by Octet - Colored Scalars
An appended sector of two octet-colored scalars, each an electroweak doublet, is an interesting extension of the simple two Higgs doublet model motivated by the minimal flavor violation. Their rich CP violating interaction gives rise to a sizable electron electric dipole moment, besides the quark electric dipole moment via the two-loop contribution of Barr-Zee mechanism.
متن کاملSupersymmetric Models with Right-handed Squark Mixing
The correlation between the CP asymmetry in B → φKs (SφKs) and the chromoelectric dipole moment (CEDM) of strange quark (ds ), which is constrained by the electric dipole moment (EDM) of 199Hg, is studied in the supersymmetric (SUSY) models with the right-handed squark mixing. It is known that, if the right-handed bottom and strange squarks have a CP-violating mixing, such as in the SUSY SU(5) ...
متن کاملCP conserving constraints on Supersymmetric CP violation in the MSSM
We address the following question. Take the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with the two CP violating SUSY phases different from zero, and neglect the bound coming from the electric dipole moment of the neutron (EDM): is it possible to fully account for CP violation in the kaon and B systems using only the SUSY contributions with vanishing CKM phase? We show that the B...
